For those in the cybersecurity industry aiming to scale new professional heights, getting the CISSP certification isn't just a milestone—it's a game changer. Beyond prepping you for the complexities of the field, this certification opens doors to roles and opportunities that might have seemed just out of reach.

But let’s be real. Passing the CISSP exam is not an easy feat, and most cybersecurity pros benefit from selecting a training program to get the highest score possible–especially the minimum passing score of 70%.

Know Your Options: The Top CISSP Courses in 2024

Choosing a CISSP course isn’t always easy. ISC2, the organization behind the CISSP certification, not only offers the exam but also provides its own training course. Alternatively, you can choose an online or in-person training course from a university or a specialized training provider. Best of all, you can choose Destination Certification for your online training. Our business is built upon offering the very best all-inclusive training to current and aspiring cybersecurity professionals so that you can take the CISSP exam with confidence!

Destination Certification

Founded in 2019, Destination Certification is one of the only training companies that focuses exclusively on a complete suite of CISSP training. In the decades leading up to the founding of Destination Certification, our facilitators spent countless hours running CISSP boot camps for companies like Deloitte Global, Scotiabank, TD Bank, RBC, Accenture, Target, and others. They have retained these clients and still, to this day, provide recurring, successful CISSP, CCSP, and other certification training to the same suite of clients.

Thanks to our CISSP MasterClass, you no longer have to be employed by one of those leading companies to access our facilitators' expertise and top-tier training. Instead, you can sign up online and complete the coursework at your own pace, typically between 4 and 10 weeks.

You gain access to:

  • Videos from our CISSP co-founders and master instructors Rob Witcher and John Berti
  • Material that adjusts to what you already know–and what areas are challenging you the most
  • Instructions on every question and answer on the exam
  • Flashcards on each topic
  • MindMap reviews for each topic
  • Comprehensive study guides
  • A chat feature where you can ask questions about the topic

If you want to know just how qualified our CISSP instructors are, consider this: we have contributed to the writing of official ISC2 CISSP curriculums, instructor materials, exam questions, published books, and we are the ones that other companies come to when they want help to review their training materials for accuracy and credibility.

Our facilitators have the freedom to create easily understandable explanations of each of the exam’s questions to help you prepare. Rather than being restricted to specific training parameters, our expert instructors know what information you need to pass the CISSP exam.

We are confident that when you choose Destination Certification, you are choosing the best possible training program with an exceptional proven record of success and glaring reviews.

ISC2

ISC2 offers its own training to accompany its test. If you enroll in online ISC2 training, you will have access to the course material for 180 days. This material includes 14 hours of video content. Most of their courses are self-guided.

Purdue University

Purdue Polytechnic offers a 5-day boot camp, offered entirely online, with live instruction. This kind of program tends to work well for people who can set aside their entire lives for a week, including any other professional or work responsibilities, to complete a fast-paced training program.

The University of Arizona

The University of Arizona offers both online and in-person CISSP training that includes a textbook and practice exam questions. Students who participate in the program receive a Certificate of Completion from the university’s Continuing & Professional Education program. This is not the same as CISSP certification, though; students must still pass the exam through ICS2 to become certified.

Baylor University

Baylor University is a private school in Texas that offers an online CISSP prep course that can be taken at any time. It is 100% self-guided, so participants can start the course at any time that is convenient for them.

Udemy

Known for its vast selection, Udemy provides access to CISSP courses covering a wide array of topics within the cybersecurity domain. These courses are typically self-paced, featuring video lectures that you can start and stop at your convenience.

Coursera

Partnering with universities and corporations, Coursera offers courses that often combine video lectures with assignments and peer interactions. This setup introduces an academic rigor and application-based learning to the CISSP study process, suitable for those who prefer a structured approach with some level of interaction.

Global Knowledge

Global Knowledge offers instructor-led CISSP training that adheres to a predetermined schedule. The courses aim to cover the CISSP Common Body of Knowledge (CBK) thoroughly, facilitated by certified professionals.

Simplilearn

Simplilearn’s CISSP certification training is an online program that combines self-paced learning with live, instructor-led sessions, designed around a structured 90-day schedule. This blend aims to facilitate applied learning through projects and case studies, catering to individuals who seek a mix of flexibility and disciplined, timeline-oriented study.

Learning Tree

Learning Tree provides CISSP training available both in-person and online, each following a specific schedule to accommodate comprehensive preparation. This format is particularly suited to individuals who value a consistent, timetable-based study plan that allows for immersive engagement with the material.

How to Choose a CISSP Training Program

With a multitude of CISSP courses available, it can be daunting for aspiring candidates to pinpoint the one that truly aligns with their learning style, schedule, and career objectives. Diving into the selection process requires a thoughtful approach, and we're here to shed light on the essential considerations that should guide your decision:

Check the Provider’s Reputation

First, you’re going to want to make sure that the company or institution offering the training has a great reputation within the industry. Additionally, what is the provider’s reputation among people who have completed the course? Check out our Destination Certification success stories to find out what people have to say about our training.

Verify High-Quality Content

The course needs to cover all eight domains of the CISSP Common Body of Knowledge comprehensively. Even though the content of the exam is sophisticated, the explanations need to be easy to understand and memorize. In other words, the course should be expertly communicated.

Investigate the Instructors’ Expertise

This can be more of a challenge when it comes to university-offered programs that may be taught by a variety of faculty in the cybersecurity department at that school. At Destination Certification, our co-founders and expert instructors have extensive experience and knowledge of the cybersecurity industry.

Rob Witcher holds the following certifications: CCSP, CISSP, CCSK, CISM, CISA, CSX-P, CIPM, MCSE: Security, and PMP. John Berti holds CCSP, CISSP, SSCP, and CISM certifications. It’s not just about certifications, though. Rob and John have been providing exceptional training to people pursuing CISSP certifications for decades and helping ISC2 themselves with many of their resources

Look for Interactive Learning Features

Textbooks and videos are great, but they are not sufficient for most people to truly master the material for a difficult exam like the CISSP test. Look for additional learning features, like flashcards, open chats, Q&A sessions, mentoring, discussion forums, practice tests, and other opportunities for active learning.

Choose a Course that Matches Your Accessibility Needs

Make sure that the course you choose offers flexible scheduling options to accommodate your personal and professional commitments. Unless your employer is incredibly flexible with you, you may not be able to take an entire week off to do a boot camp-style course. That’s why many people choose a multi-week program that they can tackle at their own pace.

In-person programs can be great, but they require you to be present for a very specific time frame–and absences are usually prohibited.

Consider the Cost and Value for Your Money

Good CISSP prep isn’t cheap, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t consider the ways to get the best value for your money.

There is a wide range of how much CISSP courses can cost, but the value is also different. For example, a program that costs more but provides better training will make you less likely to have to take the test multiple times–which saves you money in the long run because you only have to pay for the exam once.

Similarly, a prep course that involves minimal interaction with the instructors, no opportunities to ask questions, and little more than a textbook and some videos may cost less, but the quality of the content is much lower.

Another thing to consider is post-course support or access to updated content when the exam changes.
